I think also a huge part of getting burnt out is that people get no agency (as in the capacity of individuals to act independently and to make their own free choices) - you can't work any faster because others are constantly pumping the brakes. They require feedback, they want to approve things, my personal favorite "we have always done it this way".

A 10 person company, with one CEO, at least one VP, and at least one other manager sounds insane, that *must* be a typo? Are they building the pyramid from the top down, first get the C-Suite, VP level, Managers in place, then worry about the people supposed to do the work? I've seen this with externally funded companies, easier to find managers than software developers.

And then, in those top-heavy organizations, all the VPs, managers often don't have any power to make independent decisions either, so it's just fluff.
