I’m in a weird position. I’m an attorney working in legal aid and I lead a small team. My org re opened slightly in the fall to provide capacity for in person walk ins, but then pulled back with Omnicron. I’ve encouraged my team to work however they want and we only occasionally go into the office. Remote legal service has generally been pretty good for our work and our clients (with some exceptions).

Now we are phasing back into in person again and the justifications aren’t as much the ones listed here, but more focused on the benefit to the communities we serve. In some ways, it’s hard to argue with being open to the public. In other ways, we have provided excellent legal services throughout the pandemic and in my view, a full return is unnecessary.

"You know that “no office” doesn’t mean “never seeing another human being,” and you know that “collaboration is only done in person” is not true." hear, hear.
