Elon Musk has had a difficult weekend following a difficult week, with all difficulties a direct result of his actions, a continual flywheel of actions and consequences that confuse a man with too much money and time on his hands. Twitter updated the iOS version of the Twitter app to advertise verification on Saturday
It's going to be interesting to see if this sort of contagion spreads to his other companies, especially Tesla. To Tesla shareholders this Twitter escapade might shake their confidence in his abilities. Pissing of Democrats (the political party) also isn't particularly wise given how much Tesla depends on government largesse through tax credits for buying BEV, ban on ICE vehicles and income from trading carbon credits.
For Twitter he also closed the only avenue by which Twitter reliably was able to make money: Selling Twitter shares.

He was right when he said comedy is now legal, though he’s the butt of the jokes.
Still, it’s funny to watch him be forced to overpay for Twitter then reduce its value even more. Can’t wait for the movie version.
